The Bloom Workshop

Back in June I attended The Bloom Workshop put on by Michaela and Ashley, and I absolutely loved it.  I learned so much about blogging, photography and styling and got to meet some really cool ladies in the process. The whole day was so pretty, it's like it was out of one of my girly daydreams. Half of the day was spent taking notes and listening to presentations from the girls on how to make our blogs and small businesses more successful and the second half was spent putting our styling and photography skills to use. Seriously I never thought note taking could be so interesting! I also got to meet one of my fav bloggers, Tieka and she was super cute and so nice.

If you have any interest in blogging or just want to meet some like minded girls who appreciate the pretty little details in life, I highly recommend going! The yummy treats and swag bags alone make it worth it!

I am now on the hunt for gold utensils, they are so whimsical and dreamy! I think they would add the perfect amount of charm to our rustic dining room table.

Chalk Full of Memories

To celebrate our FIRST wedding anniversary, which is about a month away, I thought I would share some special parts of our wedding celebration that still have a part in our lives today. Whether it be decor from the reception that we hang in our house now or a sparkly pair of shoes that I pull out for fancier nights, I love that some of the magic from that night still gets to shine.

First up is the chalkboard seating chart. My mom has the prettiest handwriting, so she wrote up everyone's name and table number for guests to see as they walked into the greenhouse for dinner. I loved having this handmade piece at our wedding that I would be able to take home and repurpose after the night was over.

After the wedding, we put a new coat of chalkboard paint over the surface since we had written the names in chalk pen and that was proving hard to remove. The board now looks as good as new and reminds me of our wedding every time I see it.

It now hangs in our dining room/kitchen, and I try to write a new quote or draw a new design on it every few weeks. Next week I will share another wedding then and now and this one Scott is in! He's super excited, I can tell.

It's Thyme

This summer we have been trying to make a new cocktail every weekend. I scored a super cute, vintage bar cart awhile ago and have been itching to fill it up with some more grown up mixers, so we have been trying to up our game lately and get a little fancy. This past weekend we made a jazzed up gin fizz with fresh thyme and raspberries. My first go around was a little strong, but I think I got it right on the second try.

You'll need:
- Your favorite gin or the one in the prettiest bottle
- Raspberries
- Limes
- Thyme
- Sparkling water (we used lime flavored)
- Ice

Add a good handful of raspberries, a few sprigs of thyme, the juice of one or two limes and gin to your pitcher. I didn't use any precise measurements, I just added and taste tested along the way. Muddle these together so the liquid starts turning a slight pink. Add in the sparkling water and pour over ice.

This drink was super easy to make and tasted just like summer. A few tips I found where to keep the thyme leaves on the branch, otherwise you keep getting little leaves in your straw. Also that little guy above made juicing the limes so much easier! This is by far my favorite kitchen gadget!

Newlywed Adventures

I'm Caity, as I'm sure most of you know. And that handsome guy right down there, that's Scott, he's my husband.

We currently live in Michigan and have two pups, Fender and Albus.

He's Fender, named after the guitar, not a car bumper.

And he's Albus, names after the greatest wizard of all time. I may be just a bit of a Harry Potter fan.

When I first thought I would start blogging again I thought it would be all about our new adventures as newlyweds, life with our two crazy pups and fixing up our brand new (to us) house. Then I got a job offer in Pennsylvania and we decided to go for it! We'll still be together and I'm sure our pups will be just as crazy but our cute little house will no longer be our home. Instead we'll be a few states over trying to make Pennsylvania feel like home, at least for a little while. I promise it won't be forever mom! So while this blog will be a bit different than I planned, it will still be about us...just on a different adventure.
